Securing your status as an employer of choice

Employers who embrace work–life balance programs attract and retain quality staff. In turn these staff have a greater commitment and loyalty to the employer.

More than three out of four employees factor in non-monetary benefits when joining an organisation (Mercer survey as quoted in OZ Nov 1-2 2008). Prospective employees rate provision of financial education highly in the non-cash aspects that they seek in an employer of choice. These considerations are often termed ‘work life balance issues’, and encompass things like flexibility in work patterns, superannuation and retirement planning as well as financial education. They also feature highly on the list of reasons that employees give for choosing to stay with an employer or company.

Work–life balance is about creating supportive, healthy workplaces for employees so they can better integrate their work and personal responsibilities.
